VAURO'S CARTOONS

The political cartoonist Vauro and Carlo never actually knew each other but a long while ago they had in fact already met - on a T-shirt.
This T-shirt, that Vauro had designed for a student collective in Rome back in the Eighties, was passed down to Carlo by his cousin, after he'd grown too big for it.
Since then Carlo and his T-shirt became inseparable, despite the shirt now coming apart at the seams and his mother's complaints, who spent her time mending each new tear.
One day, someone brought a photo to Piazza Alimonda taken during an end of year college trip to Barcelona; later this same picture appeared in the papers - alongside all the flowers and cards left for Carlo on the railings of the Rimedio Church in Piazza Alimonda.
It was then that Vauro recognised his old T-shirt…
